Troubleshooting Guide

Having game connection issues?

  • A wired connection is preferred over a wireless connection
  • Use of an internet hotspot is strongly discouraged
  • If available, test using another internet connection.
    • For example, test with a hotspot to verify connectivity, even if network performance may be significantly impacted
  • Check clock synchronization
    • Visit https://time.is/ to see if your clock is incorrect
    • If your clock time is off more than 1 hour, connections can fail.
  • Check EOS online status
  • Attempt forced relay mode
    • Settings -> Misc -> Network -> Set Relay Control to Force Relay Server
  • Check your firewall settings
  • The game uses UDP traffic to communicate, so networks that block UDP (such as some enterprise or university networks) may have issues connecting
  • If available, can attempt to use a VPN connection to check connectivity
    • VPNs that use TCP traffic may get around some connectivity issues, generally at the cost of additional latency
  • Check your NAT type, in general Open and Moderate NAT types should not have issues connecting to other players (and should be able to use a direct connection improving network performance)

Having trouble logging in?

  • Ensure your internet connection is working and stable
    • In general, a wired connection is preferred
    • If not available, try moving closer to your WiFi router
  • Try restarting WiFi/router
  • Check to make sure your firewall and/or antivirus are not blocking Deadzone Rogue
  • Verify game file integrity
  • Ensure that the game is running on a supported version of Windows (Windows 10 or Windows 11)
  • Ensure that Windows is up to date
  • Verify general connectivity to Deadzone Rogue’s servers
    • Open Command Prompt
      • Windows+R
      • Type cmd into the Open field
      • Click OK
    • Type ping api.deadzonerogue.com and hit enter
      • If successful, should see replies, with Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss)
      • Error such as “Ping request could not find host” or other indicate an issue
  • Verify DNS resolution
  • Flush DSN cache
    • Open Command Prompt as administrator
      • Open the Windows Start Menu
      • Search for Command Prompt
      • Right click and select Run as administrator
    • Type ipconfig /flushdns
  • Check if proxy settings are interfering with your connection
    • Open Command Prompt
      • Windows+R
      • Type cmd into the Open field
      • Click OK
    • Type netsh winhttp show proxy and hit enter
      • Should see Direct access (no proxy server)
    • If you do not, type netsh winhttp reset proxy and hit enter to restore direct access
    • See here for more information about these commands
    • McAfee and other antivirus in particular can cause issues with proxy configuration. Even after uninstalling, proxy configuration may be left in a bad state.
  • Check for rootkits that may interfere with connectivity
  • Repair Windows
    • Open Command Prompt as administrator
      • Open the Windows Start Menu
      • Search for Command Prompt
      • Right click and select Run as administrator
    • Type each of the following and hit enter before running the next:
      • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
      • sfc /scannow
      • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
      • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

DLSS Crash?

If you experience a crash on startup (usually after the startup movie/loading screen), DLSS may be the issue. Disable DLSS using this launch parameter:-ngxdisableota

This issue is awaiting a fix from NVIDIA.

Intel 13th & 14th Gen CPU Crash

Users with Intel 13th or 14th Gen CPUs (e.g., Intel i9-14900KF) may experience instability issues.

Check this for details:
🔗Oodle Intel Issue

Fix: Update your BIOS to the latest version. Here’s how:
🔗How to Update BIOS

  • Check with your motherboard manufacturer for specific steps.
  • Avoid power loss while updating BIOS.
  • Note: If permanent damage has already occurred from this issue, updating may not fix it.
  • After updating, ensure all drivers are up to date.

Rivatuner Statistics Server (RTSS) / MSI Afterburner

Users with RTSS installed may encounter crashes. Uninstall RTSS as it does not work well with Unreal Engine.

Raytracing Crash

If the game crashes while in a run, try disabling raytracing in the settings.

Drivers

Always make sure GPU drivers are up to date!

General Hardware

Ensure your hardware meets the minimum requirements listed on Steam/Epic.

Older integrated graphics (unsupported by Intel/AMD) may have issues running the game.

Co-op runs peer to peer through EOS (epic online services), so if you're experiencing any lag try switching who's the host with your friends, and adjusting your own game settings if that doesn't help
